Serina Bird had me at the title and cover and I knew right away I had to check this out! The message that being Frugal is not a dirty word, and in fact you can find the fun and joy in making the most out of your every day life and adding value to it by following these principles is an important one that needs to be shared, especially those seeking freedom from debt but also seeking financial happiness in being mindful – regardless of their circumstances.
I enjoyed how Serina conveys not only the psychology of the money mindset based on her real-life experience on the path to millionaire, but also practical tips that I actually put to use immediately that worked – such as her excellent tips and script regarding saving on energy costs, and her mini challenges at the end of each chapter to help gain clarity on where I am spending my money and improved ways to save or add value to our home.
Unlike some other finance books, you will find that the author is very transparent with her personal story and struggles which may be very relatable and engaging to some readers which further compounds her message but for those just seeking an ABC guide and tips (which this book certainly has in spades) there may be some parts where readers glance over. Grateful to have experienced this book, it signifies a growing awareness in reducing consumerism and personal responsibility towards our finances and finding joy with our lot – one that warrants discussion with as many as possible.
